Casa Sanguinetti…

A snapshot of the street where Spike was born and raised, looking sharp in the crisp winter light. So much of Gibraltar has been developed in recent years, but certain corners of town remain untouched…

I was in Gibraltar two weeks ago researching family history. Spike’s adventures gave an added dimension to the visit. I wondered whether Chicardo’s Passage was fictional; I failed to find it in the absence if a decent street map of Gib, but enjoyed my exploration of the old town searching for it. So, I have another reason, were one actually needed, for revisiting Gibraltar.

Dear Alan — Great you’ve discovered Spike; sorry the same cannot be said for Chicardo’s! It’s real enough, tho’ — high in the Upper Town, off Castle Street — but there’s quite a lot of building work going on around there at present, so it’s easily missed. Always next time… Thomas
